Review on SILCA MATTONE Bicycle Seat Bag with BOA Closure System - Full Waterproof YKK Zipper for Convenient On-Bike Access by Andrew Agarwal

Very nice high quality product that works like a charm!

Let me start by saying that I HATE bike seat bags, but they are a necessary evil for storing your supplies in an emergency. I hate how bulky they can be and how they look like weird growth coming off the seat. Maybe you can ask your doctor to take a look. This little bag is much better than a normal bag. Let me list the features I really liked: Size: This is a small bag but the way it opens makes it easy to fit a lot of stuff in it. I run tubeless tires, so my tire has two CO2 cartridges, a CO2 nozzle, tire levers, a repair kit, a multi-tool, money and a mask. If I wanted to fit a tire I could take out one of the cartridges and it would fit snugly, albeit tightly. Storage: The inside of the bag is bright red so you can see all the stuff you've packed inside and there are dividers and a pocket to keep things from rattling or sliding around. Very nice design. Appearance: As mentioned, the vast majority of saddlebags look awful in my opinion, but they're very useful, so I just learned how to use them. However, this bag looks very stylish. Simple colors, simple branding and a mix of classic and modern design elements make it very clean. On my bike, the BOA handle ends almost halfway down the bottom of the bag (I'm sure it depends on how much you pack and what seat width you have). It almost disappears under the seat but when you see it it looks really clean and nice. Ease of use: I bought my previous bag because it could be side loaded and easily removed from the bike. All of the pockets detach fairly easily, but some are simply designed to make it insanely quick and easy. I can't stand back pockets because it seems like it takes too much work to stuff everything in and it never fits perfectly. Side loading allows you to pack it neatly and efficiently with no hassles, but the way this bag is meant to be used is a step above. If I wanted I could easily unzip and remove the item without removing the bag from the bike but I think that would be a little difficult for a full repair. I prefer to easily remove the bag for quick access to emergency items for repairs when traveling. The BOA system is as simple as attaching the bag to the seat, and it's a snap! Then the bag opens up like a book and BAM! All your tools are ready to use. In short, this thing is very easy to pack and use. Secure Attachment: My previous bag which was my favorite bag before this one (SKS 800 rail mount bag) was purchased because of the side load and rail mount system. This made this bag pretty sturdy, but it still wobbled a bit. This bag uses a BOA system and a simple strap that only requires rails to attach. The BOA System BLOCKS THIS SHIT! It just doesn't move at all and is as snug as possible to the seat. There is no strap around the seat tube, which allowed me to adjust the taillight/radar in a much better spot. Such a simple design with amazing results just makes me dizzy as can be. Cons: My only comment or con about this bag is that I don't think it would fit a phone if needed. I stopped putting my phone in my bike bag a few years ago when I discovered cycling shorts with leg pockets that you could just tuck into a tank top. I know a lot of people like to just pack their phone in and this case doesn't let that happen unless you have a fairly small phone. Otherwise this bag is as close to perfection as I could have expected. Great job silk!
