It's worth it, really improved performance. No SD cards required

Works great! Really improved performance. I had some rainbow/light bolt issues with my 5V 2.5A power supply so I replaced it with a 5V 3A power supply and so far so good. I use it with this SSD. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07864YNTZ
