Review on πŸ“ž Yealink YEA-W56P - Business HD IP DECT Cordless VoIP Phone and Device in Silver by Guillo Tilden

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good phone with OpenVPN support, but there are a few things that make it better.

Pro was corrupted) It supports OpenVPN, one of the few phones that does. Wireless Headphones. The headset has access to many settings that allow you to control the device right from there. Con) The status screen does not show any SIP connection or OpenVPN connection stations, only network and headset status. The sip status is very limited, there seems to be only 3 statuses (Disabled, Registered, Registration Failed), to find out more you have to read the syslog and it mixes with everything else that is written to the syslog. OpenVPN has a null status indicator, you need to go to the syslog to find out something. Con) The headset uses a 3.5 headphone jack instead of the 2.5 headphone jack common on cordless phones. So you need to use an adapter to use headphones designed for standard wireless headphones or use headphones designed for cell phones (harder to find and more expensive). Also, the headphone jack is on the bottom of the device, right where it connects to the charger, so you'll need to unplug your headphones before you can recharge the headset. All in all, this is a good solution if you're looking for a SIP client. which supports OpenVPN but is far from plug and play and the headphone jack just doesn't fit. hp It supports using user authentication and also acknowledges that the documentation on the subject is weak, but it works. Update: You'll probably want a '3.5mm to 2.5mm Jack Headphone Audio Adapter' so you can use it with the standard 2.5mm headset adapters found in the most headsets sold by this brand.
