Adding fluid to the transmission sump every 50,000 miles is recommended, although the dealer claims the fluid will last a lifetime. Not true. This is a simple procedure for the Highlander and is real gear oil designed for the transmission. 4.5 liters on a v6 model, gearbox oil changed 2 months ago and no problems.
