I have to say right away - I don't fry kebabs, I live in a flat share. But as a hiker and survivalist, I'm always on the lookout for unusual gear to prepare for long-term emergencies or to make my hikes a little more fun and easier. I bought these gloves so I can safely build and make fires instead of stabbing a stick and hoping for the best. I wanted something that would allow me to throw wood into the fire or grab the unburning ends of logs and move them around quickly without burning my fingers every time. I'm not looking for fireproof ones, but "protect my hands for a few seconds when approaching a hot and flaming object". These gloves are quite thick and durable and seem to last a long time. A thermal rating of 932 F should be good enough for the intended purpose. One thing I didn't like was the bad smell they gave off, apparently due to chemicals used in the manufacturing process. I wouldn't want these things to come into contact with anything else in my bag without an airtight plastic bag, which luckily they provided - it has one of those sliding zippers like a freezer bag, and I'll probably pack everything in a different one food market. Pocket. Can't wait to take them on a hike!
