Like the pants I bought this jacket to stay protected, comfortable and warm for my return trip on November 1st 2021 after flying from KC to Dallas to collect my Himalayans. The way back was fun, but rain and cold mixed, so choosing the right gear was necessary. This ILM jacket did it. On the way back it rained for more than four hours and I stayed dry. If it was under forty at night, I'd throw a dry sweater and Eddie Bauer fleece under him and stay warm. Those of you who ride bikes know that "below 40" ambient temperature on a bike means "below freezing"! I've put over 3,000 miles on it since then (today 02 Jan 2022) and some of the warmer days forced me to unbutton the winter lining. Warmth: Warm enough for regular people with zip lining. For us psychos, a few layers are enough! Waterproof: From drizzle to downpour, I stayed dry. I had water dripping off my gaiter and wetting the inside of the collar, but "life on a bike in the rain isn't ideal". Comfort: I felt comfortable in different configurations between 40 and 70 degrees. Protection: Haven't had to use this part yet (knock wood) but carbon fiber shoulders and reinforced/padded elbows, chest and back would definitely be welcome if I ever put the wheels on! You can spend a lot more money, but I'm not sure how much more you get for it. Try this jacket if you are in the market, I think you will like it too.
