Review on πŸ”Œ IOGEAR Long Range Bluetooth USB Adapter with High Data Transfer Rate (GBU321) by Michael Langelius

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worked like a dream. I wish everything was that easy!

I have a Bluetooth enabled Mac iBook and ever since I got a Bluetooth enabled HP all-in-one printer I wanted to know if it's even possible to print wirelessly between Macs and HP platforms. HP has their own proprietary Bluetooth connection, which they promote (and give as little information as possible); This thing got pretty bad reviews, so I was dying to try a Bluetooth adapter that at least a few people would like. But as you might expect, nobody makes any of this SIMPLE. What is the difference between Class 1 and Class 2? Well, HP doesn't tell you because if you did, you might buy a different adapter! I read a number of reviews, particularly looking for reviews from Mac owners, and hit this adapter hard. As you might have guessed, I'm no computer genius, but I received an IOGear adapter in the mail and within 15 minutes I was effortlessly and wirelessly typing from my living room to a printer tucked away in my home office. !The only reason the whole thing didn't take five minutes was because when you print you have to SELECT the printer (like the old Mac "picker" a few days before OSX). The Mac Bluetooth System Configuration Utility makes the whole process pretty painless. By the way, the distance between my home office and my living room is MUCH more than 30 feet, and there are a lot of walls and doors in the way. The printer worked like a champion; nothing stopped him. My only complaint is that there seems to be a problem with PDF printing. Of course, that could just be because I haven't figured out how to do it yet (and HP obviously won't tell me since I didn't buy their adapter!). But that's a nitpick. It's nice to be able to push the button anywhere and have everything taken care of when I leisurely reach my home office. If you have a Mac laptop and want to try your hand at long distance wireless printing, this would be the Bluetooth adapter I would use. Definitely frees you and works like a charm!

Pros
