I bought this 3D scanner to build the perfect 3D station. My current setup includes a Creality Ender 3 v2 fdm printer, a Creality Halot One, and a wash and cure station. I have a lot of experience with 3D printing but what I'm missing is 3D modelling, so I want a 3D scanner. I've spent a lot of time searching YouTube for consumer 3D scanners, spoiler alert, there really aren't many. Primarily among the 3D scanners under $1,000 are the Creality cr scan 01 and this best selling Revopoint. I chose Revopoint Pop because I thought it was better value for money, at the time of purchase it was a few hundred dollars cheaper than Creality, and it also had the flexibility of Revopoint Pop to fit both on to work on my computer as well as on my iPhone The Creality can only be connected to a computer and requires an electrical outlet. Creality has a higher accuracy of 0.1mm compared to Pop's 0.3mm, but I found POP better for me overall. Before purchasing, I would suggest that you look at the photos and YouTube videos of the resulting scans so you understand what you are getting from a consumer 3D scanner. In the box was a USB-C cable, as well as a USB-A cable (you only use one of these, but the choice is yours). Phone holder that can be attached to a tripod. A tripod that can function as a desktop stand or tripod for travel. Markers (stickers) for scanning based on markers and a turntable. Several country-specific adapters were included with the player's power plug. There is also a figurine that Revopoint provides you with for testing the scanner. To install it on my Windows PC, all I had to do was connect a USB cable and download/install the handy Windows scanner from the Revopoint website. It takes a bit of training to figure out which scan mode and light/gain settings to use. I highly recommend watching the how-to videos from the Revopoint website and YouTube. The app helps you place the subject at the correct distance, with an indicator at the top to tell you if you're too far or too close to the subject. I set up my turntable and put some objects on it to scan it, I let it make about 5 turns of the turntable, then I pick up the objects and turn them over. Note that if you rotate to a different angle, wait a few seconds to make sure it scans green. Otherwise, try a different angle. After several curves at both corners. I ran the mesh and got 3D models of my object. The handyscan application outputs 3D models in stl, ply or obj format. Given that these are consumer 3D scanners that cost around $600, I was impressed with the scans I received. They work particularly well on larger objects, where the elements of the object are proportionately large. After completing a few scans, I tested loading directly into Cura and found no problems. The mobile setup was a little tedious, but not difficult. Revopoint needs to be powered on first, the minimum power is 5W (5V 1A), which almost all USB rechargeable batteries can supply. There are 2 ways to connect it to your phone via Wi-Fi or via a Y-cable (sold separately). The Y cable shares the connection so you can connect the battery to the battery and connect the USB cable to the phone. iPhone can only be connected via Wi-Fi mode. For Wi-Fi mode, Revopoint works by automatically connecting to a specific access point with a predefined password. The default connection is to a device named "POP" with the password "12345678". Note that this can be changed in the handyscan for Windows desktop program on your computer (click on 'About' in the upper right corner and then on 'Wi-Fi Setup'). How to set up Wi-Fi mode on iPhone. First, go to the App Store and install the handyscan app. by revopoint. Disable your WiFi by clicking it to make it gray and change your phone to a WiFi hotspot. Go to "Settings" > "General" > "Name" and change it to "POP", which is case sensitive. "Settings" > "Personal Hotspot", turn on "Allow others to join" and enter the WiFi password. to "12345678". Connect the 3D scanner to the battery to turn it on. Then the 3D scanner will connect to your phone automatically. A blue double rectangle icon will appear in the top left corner of your phone, indicating that you are connected to Wi-Fi. to the scanner. Then go to your handy scanning app, tap Settings and make sure it's set to Wi-Fi mode. Then start scanning. I only used it on my iPhone for a short time, it did scan objects but was a bit slow in processing. I have an old iPhone, this could be the reason. The accessories that came with the Revopoint were decent. I found it particularly thoughtful of them to include cables in addition to the USB-C cable for those still using USB-A. The tripod and phone holder were sturdy and easily foldable for mobile use. The platter was of good quality and spun at a constant speed. According to the specifications, the maximum load on the turntable is 11 pounds. I haven't used the markers (stickers) so I can't comment on how well they work, but the YouTube videos I've seen have shown them to work well. Overall given the price of a 3D scanner that sets expectations for scanning resolution and the ability to do both mobile and desktop scanning. I think this is a good inexpensive 3D scanner. The scan I took was pretty detailed. The scanning process was easy to use and the installation, especially on a computer, did not require much effort.
