Review on Optimized Brine Shrimp Hatchery Kit with Silver Air Pump - Brine Shrimp Eggs Incubator Artemia Hatchery by Lisa Ramirez

But it works. good for spawning tanks

This brings out Artemia, but. First of all I would like to say that this is the second one I have bought. I liked the first one enough and I have enough BBS requirements to need two hatcheries. First I used all the hoses I bought myself which is good for this seller. The first one I bought was obviously used. The hose was dirty and had salt residue. All the pipettes were broken, the suction cups were all broken and now they will never work again. The first had no instructions. In the meantime we bought another pack of pipettes and everything was fine. That's why I'm buying another one. The second came, has not been used, the pipettes are undamaged, the suction cups work. So I installed everything with the hose that came with it. I disconnect the original air line (it's really pointless to use two pumps) and start everything. Later that day I went to check out my first hatchery and noticed the air wasn't working either. I found that the supplied air hose had slipped off the tee. I put it back on and get on with my day. I go out later and again the air line (the one that came with it) slipped off the tee. Right now my two batches of BBS are dead. I attach the hose and tie it up. Fill both up with new water, salt and eggs and go to bed. In the morning I jumped off the tee again. At this point I realize that the tubing is not of good enough quality to withstand a 10 degree change in temperature and stay attached to the tee. I'm replacing the hose that came with it with this $5/25ft Super High Quality Store Bought hose. Clean both hatcheries of dead BBS and eggs and repeat the water/salt/egg combo. Everything was great yesterday. Hoses do not detach. I get up this morning and you know the air hose from the valve to the top of the hatchery (2 inch air line) slipped off. Again, the supplied hose is bullshit. Another batch (possibly 2) of BBS has died. Luckily my fry are big enough to eat flakes, otherwise I would have had 250 baby gourami dead by now. The hatchery and air pump appear to be fine. But the hose is total nonsense. When this company is trying to save money by skimping on what should be cheapest, it's very unfortunate. The hatchery comes with two types of hoses with a total length of about 30 feet. It takes about 4 inches to get down from the valve and in to a solid pipe. Depending on where you should place this, it can take 5 feet to get from the air pump to the hatchery. If they had bought quality tubing in bulk, it might not have increased the bottom line all that much. My main assessment of this product is that the hatchery is in good condition. It works, but do yourself a favor and just toss the included hose straight into the bin.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
