Media could not be loaded. My daughter has wanted a sewing machine for a long time. She is 10 years old. She knows I have no sewing experience, be it machine or hand sewing, so we bought this and asked a family member to come and show us how it's made! My sister in law said this is a good machine for beginners. The instructions (probably for each sewing machine) are complex in and of themselves, so I have a hard time judging them. There is a lot of information in the brochure but a nice slow motion video would be nice. The URL is included, but unfortunately when I checked there wasn't anything there. I called my sister in law and she came right away and helped us! She showed us exactly what to do. The machine did a good job taking care of a couple of torn bags for us. You will need your own filament as it only comes with black and white and a pair of support spools. However, you can use it right away. Battery powered or plugged in - either option will work. There is a pedal included. There are different stitches to choose from and they are all on the side of the machine which is nice. It was a little tricky getting the thread all the way through the hole near the needle, but lowering it a bit helps. To be honest, a good teacher who shows the beginner how to use a sewing machine, gives him a lot of practice material and gives him the opportunity to to fix small things. The foot is removable for thicker clothing, we found, and that was useful. For the price and what this machine can do, it is a good gift for any beginner, including adults! Just make sure you have someone who understands the hardware to show you what to do as the instructions are a bit awkward and I'd rather use them a second or third time than the first with a good chunk . gear like this.
