I've been using the PR2100 for about a year and have a lot of experience with it so when I saw this model at an unbeatable price I had to try it. I'm glad I did. Since the word "forward" he has been reliable. While there are a number of different useful apps you can install (straight from the toolbar), all I needed was online file storage and for that purpose it works great. . It has users, shares, web access, FTP access, and a whole host of other management tools. It supports both Windows and Mac security standards and the firmware is regularly updated for security and features. It's pre-configured in RAID5 to maximize storage space with some redundancy, and it's so easy to set up, you can go from plugging in to moving. files in minutes. It took a while to transfer the 10TB files I needed to it, but it worked at full gigabit speeds the whole time, so that's not a downside to this device. Also, I'm pretty sure you could combine two gigabit ports into a 2 gigabit connection if you had the networking hardware to do it, but other than the initial massive file transfer, that probably won't make much of a difference to me. playing around. A few seconds here or there doesn't make much of a difference. The only downside I can say about this device is that it's not silent. It's not an obnoxious noise, and there's no harsh fan noise or anything like that, but it's a noticeable white noise in a quiet room. It does keep hard drives cool though, so it doesn't matter. All in all, for what this product is about, it does a great job at a great price. If you need additional features, it's probably better to just build your own Linux or Windows server, but I'm happy as a clam. Having all my files in one central network location is incredibly convenient, and all my various Android TV or Fire TV devices can now stream movies/music through Kodi to suit their little digital hearts.
