Very close (but not perfect) to my Circa 1998 Delta Series Monitor Shower Valves This replacement cartridge is slightly larger than that Originals from Delta. These cartridges are designed to fit snugly, so that was the problem. Installation wasn't easy, but I finally managed to install it in one of two places I tried. Union nut present. Both the old cartridge from this shower and a similar cartridge from my guest shower fit this valve perfectly so there hasn't been too much build up (although I cleaned thoroughly with a wire brush).* The shower has a valve but it's 20 years old old was only used several times (guest room), both original cartridges are also perfect. This replacement cartridge was very solid, but I finally managed to get it in deep enough to use here (and then use that old, almost unused cartridge elsewhere). Also note that the front of the cartridge has changed (where the faucet handle grips the front of the cartridge to adjust the water flow), see photos. The inside of the handle is now shaped differently and the inside of the old handle is too big to crank the new rounds. I asked Delta about it (via their website) and they provided a replacement pen to fit the new cartridge free of charge. In the picture: this (new) cartridge on the left, the old (bad) original cartridge from 1998 on the right. At least for shower valves like mine, this replacement part doesn't seem to be exactly the same size. This can work just like a second shower, but remember to have a backup plan!
