This is the first rug I have ever owned or used. It's awesome and I'm upset that I didn't have one of these sooner than I did! The little organization features are great and I didn't even notice until I found out that id has magnets in some places to hold the screws. That! A trick I learned long ago from some old engineers was to use dumb putty to hold the PCB in place when soldering components. I've been doing this with regular static mats for a long time. However, the material this rug is made of REALLY likes to hold onto dumb putty. However, a quick google search told me to use rubbing alcohol to remove it and it works great.
