model spent enough money on it where I really, really wish it would do the job, I'd like to add another 3 stars to the rating. That's why. The alarm comes with a soft black padlock base that "connects" to the Macbook and secures the seat. However, I removed this and the lock did NOT deform the side cover! I thought it may have deformed earlier due to the poor fit so I sent back the black base and pushed really hard (not too hard) into the lock, twisted the lock and voila!The lock fit perfectly without much distortion.I will not be selling this item again.Thank god for the curiosity and endurance.But still A little bittersweet for the warping of the plastic around the lock hole.Macbook 500 doesn't look like much for $1500.=( But learn and move on.=D) -- old review -- I agree to some people's comments about the Macbook's Kensington alarm clocks, although I'm sorry I didn't read them before purchasing this lock.It has the plastic side v formed and it took me a while to lock/unlock it. 1 star is meant to at least generate a refrain for our laptop alarm lock, but I was very disappointed when the plastic warped every time I installed the lock on my Macbook. Unfortunately I need it for a cruise I'm taking next week but I'll resell it as 'used' and 'anti-Macbook 13' when I get home. If you have a 13-inch series Macbook, it seems that Kensington locks are not recommended for you yet.
