This is truly a unique product. I tried to find it in a retail store to see before buying online but I couldn't find an alarm computer lock in any of the regular stores. The quality is good at Kensington. I think the alarm siren could be a little louder.

I bought this alarm lock because I teach a class at college and I bring my laptop to view my powerpoint class notes. From what I understand the alarm function works on it, and it's convenient enough to clip to a table or chair and tie it to my computer. and pack it in my tote bag. As it is, it's a bit cumbersome. I hang it on the closet doorknob when I'm not using it, concerned that if I wrap it tighter for storage it might damage the alarm. Another point that would be nice as an improvement is

The reason everyone should get a laptop security cable is to deter people from stealing a laptop. With this mentality it really doesn't matter how good a lock is or how cheap it is as long as it looks like a lock. If someone wants to steal your laptop that badly, then they're probably going to do it regardless of the lock. Another thing is when it comes to a security lock with an alarm. Like I said, if someone wants to cut the cord, that's no reason why they shouldn't do it, but they won't know
