Summary: Rivet nuts are really useful in two situations: 1) you can't get to the back to install and/or tighten/loosen the nut, 2) you want thread threading into material that is too thin to thread directly. Use them with the Amjoy Rivet Tool below. Observation: This is a mandrel for an M12 rivet nut (metric 12 mm). Pros: Contains multiple starting rivets; good fit and finish; Comes in a reusable color coded storage box. Disadvantages: none. Verdict: $10, 5 stars.
