Review on ☕ Bodum Brazil Black French Press Coffee and Tea Maker, 34 oz by Rob Jimenez

I bought this to have a spare on hand for my old Bodum glass mug press in case it broke. I started using it after noticing a star shaped crack at the bottom of an old jar. There are a few things I don't like about this new design: 1. The thin, flat, hard plastic handle is not ergonomic and makes it difficult to guide the press. The old one has a wide, curved, rubberized handle of an ideal shape, fits perfectly in the hand and makes it easier to control the press filled with coffee.2. The top of the new plastic handle "snaps" over the top rim of the glass, and this ridge makes it difficult to insert the plunger disc after adding coffee water. You can't put it straight down, you have to tilt it under the ledge. This creates a mess as part of the coffee "lid" ends up on top of the plunger leaving a lot of coffee grounds behind. The plastic strip also makes cleaning the glass more difficult as it directly interferes with your hand and/or washcloth.4. The high black bottom makes it difficult to tell if you scooped the remaining coffee grounds out of the glass before rinsing.5. The all-plastic lid doesn't fit as tightly as the lid on my old Bodum, which has a stainless steel top layer and conforms better to the diameter of the jar. When I put the press upside down in the sink to drain the ground coffee, the lid falls off and the ground coffee spills everywhere. The spherical end of the hard plastic butt is not very ergonomic compared to my old Bodum which has an elliptical (again ideally shaped) rubberized end. With the new shape, it's difficult to push the plunger straight down, so I replaced that component with the old one. I will most likely have to remove the glass from the new press and reassemble with my old components and I will likely cut the new one down and use the base to protect and stabilize the glass. All in all a waste of money. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DESIGN!
