Wow this awning is perfect. I have a south-facing window in my room, the sun heats up a lot. So we did a normal blind close, which doesn't really help much. Because the blinds are INSIDE the room, they heat up when left in the sun. So don't be fooled, the heat still gets inside with the blinds. With an awning, the sun is blocked from the OUTSIDE so that no heat gets inside. Also, now we can remove those horrible blinds that are blocking the view. So now we don't have a scorching sun, but a clear window to look out through. I know that in Spain everyone has awnings, very common, now I know why. I couldn't be happier.
