Goes out after about a minute

I don't understand this nonsense. It turns on for a minute or two and then turns off as if it's reached the temperature on the thermostat. At this point it will not turn back on. The light turns on to show there's power, but there's no heat or fan unless it's unplugged and plugged back in. Unfortunately I bought it at the end of the cold season and haven't used it until recently, so it's too late to return it.
