Review on Hydronix HDG CB6 14 Replacement Sediment Cartridge: High Performance Water Filtration Solution by Sean Huff

Not the same as Multipure CB6

First of all I don't sell Multipure products so there is no bias here. I bought a Hydronix filter thinking I could save some money and get the same results. I saved money, but I would like to note two results that bothered me. In one of the reviews there was a comment that the Hydronix filter provides more water flow. I thought that was right. This is definitely a negative as it indicates less charcoal inside, meaning the water is not in contact long enough for the charcoal to adsorb contaminants. You drink these impurities but save $30. The appearance of the white filter is different from the CB6 blend I replaced. CB6 has a firmer, rubbery quality. This filter is also not as wide as the CB6. Another point is that after the usual 20 minutes under the tap to wash away the fine carbon particles, I still get the initial cloudy gush of water that needs to pass a few seconds before clearing. My ice maker and cold water dispenser are also hooked up to it, so there's no way to first flush out what's leaking there. Coal dust won't harm our family at all, but I don't want to see it. I still buy ink to refill my printer cartridges, but that's a different scenario. The CB6 doesn't look like the overpriced Canon or HP. Now I understand the importance of these NSF certifications. I no longer need water filter labels.

Cons
