Doesn't fit in my closet

I bought this set because of a small pin I need to hold the shelf in place and none of them fit. So this is frustrating it was basically a waste of money and I ended up having to build something else and I have to be careful with this shelf and keep things closer to the back of the shelf because that's what's stuck there now, not sure .
