So my stand is almost entirely plastic. I'm not sure how other people got metal frames. And although the description says the base is metal, I have a plastic one. Only the weight in the base is made of metal. The only metal part is a thin aluminum shell that you place on the bottom of the speaker, which is plastic, although the description implies the entire speaker is aluminum. Everything else is plastic, including the telescopic part and stand. All you have to do is tap it with your fingernail and you will see that it is made entirely of plastic. Since it's almost entirely plastic, it shakes wildly when you touch it. I wouldn't dare put a tablet on it. But it works when I pick up my phone from my desk when I'm at work, so I love that part. I just wish it was stronger and made of metal. Of course it will be twice as expensive. So the price is ok.
