I have recently installed license plate holders on two different trailers. I used an aluminum bracket on one as it was a boat trailer and went into the water when the boat was launched. On the other hand, I opted for this painted steel bracket. I prefer this steel bracket for its durability. It's thicker than aluminum and unlikely to flex at highway speeds. I almost lost the aluminum boat, as did this boat, driving 1,700 miles cross-country, and in the end the force of the wind on the freeway bent it and loosened one of the bolts.
