Review on ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Dorman 599-211 Climate Control Module for Specific Vehicle Models by Justin Malkowski

Works differently than OEM

I installed this on my 2006 GMC Sierra SLT. After programming, the device initially worked as intended. Then I discovered some things that don't suit me. I spoke directly to Dorman and they have confirmed that the issues listed below are known issues with this unit and my vehicle. However, they are not published anywhere. It took me 3 weeks and $160 out of pocket to have a replacement shipped to me at my expense only to find that it worked the same as the unit I thought was faulty.1. This block does not show the mode (dashboard, floor, defrost, etc.) when the temperature changes in automatic mode. OEM unit make.2. In automatic mode, the temperature controller on the driver's side controls both sides. With the OEM module, when the passenger adjusts the temperature adjustment knob, you can press and hold the auto button and the control will return to the knob on the driver's side to control the entire unit. It doesn't work on this device. Once the passenger has automatically adjusted the temperature, the only way to regain control of the entire device is to disconnect the device from the vehicle or disconnect the battery.3. The lights on the actual display are very dim and difficult to see in daylight. PartsHawk's customer return service sucks at best. I returned my unused module with the correct RMA tag. My tracking information confirmed that the package was received on April 12th. On April 23rd they still had no record of my return. I had to provide tracking information to PartsHawk before they would approve my return. And of course it takes 3-5 business days or even 10.
