Review on 🚧 Enforcer E-931-S35RRQ Seco-Larm Wall Mounted Photoelectric Beam Sensor - 35 Foot Range for Indoor/Outdoor Use by Michael Radhakrishnan

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not suitable for use with AC.

These wall mounted E-931-S35RRQ Enforcer photocells from Seco-Larm are rated for 12240V DC / 24240V AC operation and have a relay contact with a maximum rating of one amp. I bought 2 of these to turn on the light when the beam was broken and hooked them up to 120VAC to power both the sensor and a relay contact for my indicator. My setup matched the specifications of the sensor. In about 40% of the cases, the sensor did not turn on the check engine light. That's not enough for my purposes. I bought 2 of these, tried both and encountered the same problem. I called the seller and was told that they were surprised that I was trying to run this sensor on 120V AC and that they were for a gate application that supplies them with DC. I checked the sensors and found that even if I powered the sensor with 12VDC and the contact in the relay with 120VAC, there was a 10% chance that the relay would not turn on the indicator light. Contact and power indicator through the relay contact, and the sensor works very well. I would choose a different sensor if I knew it wouldn't work with 120VAC.
