Review on πŸš— Uniden R3 GPS, DSP, Voice Alert Silver Extreme Long Range Radar Laser Detector by Adam Rogers

It paid off right away on the first ride. :)

The sucker is so-so. Had to reapply from time to time while driving. Mounted low, it's constantly triggered by my adaptive cruise control, which of course is a small radar mounted behind the grille. Mounting it high on the windshield fixed it. Ka-band warnings have an incredible range - so wide that I thought the random chirps were false warnings. Well it wasn't, it was the county sheriff MUCH ahead of us who turned around at the state line and managed to get me back on track. But given the persistence and increasing frequency of warnings, I was already slowing down, and the warning when it hit me with an instant turn on allowed me to put it on a very insignificant ticket (less than $75) compared to what what she would have been to reduce. Well, let's say a Mercedes V12 likes to stretch its legs a bit on an almost deserted street in western Nebraska. Everything could be a lot worse. Sensitivity is all they say. All functions work, apart from the assembly we really have no complaints. Your choice is cheap little suction cups or a big clunky mount that doesn't fit over the rear view where I left a small section of the exposed windshield so it can 'see'. But overall it's a win.

Pros
  • GPS with red light camera signals
Cons
  • I don't remember
