, I had no problem setting up the device on the network so I could manage it, but setting up the client software is unintuitive. After playing around with the web interface and Foscam IP camera client software for a few hours, I found that I was spoiled with my old DLink camera and IPview Pro software. If you just need a surveillance device or email snaps this may help, but I need 24/7 motion recording. Two things I noticed after learning how to use the camera software were that motion recording starts too late. All I could capture was the tails of the cars pulling out of the parking lot, but not the approach. Another issue is that I couldn't mask the capture area. But the worst part was that when I made the changes and clicked save, I was prompted to restart the camera but it never came back online. Another time when I changed the IP it didn't come back until I turned it off. I had to drive 30 miles and turn the camera off and on before I could use it again. Pan and tilt work great, WiFi works, wired LAN works fine, it's just not reliable to keep 24/7 motion detection recordings. It recorded the empty parking lot three times and then didn't record me driving past the building and entering it once.
