Overall: recommended! Pros: Really works! Automatically sucks Cons: Dirty Works slow As you can see in the photo, it works great! I have a lot of sludge flowing from the bottom of the aquarium. You can also adjust the suction level, which is good if you have fine/light gravel (like most gravel tanks, I use EcoComplete). For some reason I can't start vacuuming with a low tech gravel vacuum, so I NEED an electric gravel vacuum. Maybe I'm using it wrong, but I have water EVERYWHERE. Although I only have 10 gallons - if you have a larger tank you probably won't have this problem. Next time I will put towels around the aquarium. It's also quite slow, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Makes it easy to avoid getting sucked in by your animals (Triops in my case). However, if you have a HUGE tank, it's going to take a while. Alternatively, you can purchase filter floss/filament to line the filter bag. While the fluffy filter bag rinses out fairly well, it would be easier and less messy to have an extra insert in there. I gave five stars because it's not perfect, but for the price you really can't beat it. If, like me, you can't suck up a low-tech vacuum, get this thing! You'll be glad you did :)
