Review on πŸ“» Zerone DIY Manual Antenna Tuner Kit for HAM Radio QRP - Enhance Your Transmitting Capabilities! by Russell Robertson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

QRP Simple T-Network Tuner for 80-10m ham radio bands

This kit comes without assembly instructions. You must look for a similar set at a known auction. Please note that the circuit you find may contain an error in the toroid winding. Fixed: Starting with capacitor tee: Start-1T-2T-2T-2T-4T-2T-3T-3T-2T-3T-2T-10T-END (GND). Connect the switch contact L, the cleaner and the free end of the 10-turn winding to ground. Switch contact A is connected to the tap between the windings 1T and 2T, B to the tap 2T-2T. K to the 2T-10T branch around the switch. I checked the unit's tuning range with the HP8753C Network Analyzer and it reliably tunes between 3.5MHz and 30MHz. In some cases this can be the upper part of the 160m range (a 160m QRP on a short antenna is useless anyway). Please note that the balun is not included. This is an unbalanced tuner for coaxially driven dipoles; as well as vertical and long wires connected to a good ground. Assembling the kit requires reasonable home brewing skills and creativity. Not everything is clear even to an experienced builder. Overall a worthy inexpensive alternative to MFJ pocket tuners. -1 star for no instructions or photos of the finished kit. 73, N2GX -1 star for no instructions or photos of the finished kit. 73, N2GX -1 star for no instructions or photos of the finished kit. 73, N2GX that the balun is not included.
