Review on Waterproof Slip-On Hiking Boot For Men: KEEN Brixen by Tony Doan

Between Keen Slip Ons

I bought the Keen Brixen and the Keen Targhee III Slip on at revain’s try it before you buy. Although the Targhee III is easy in my ankles, the width on the toe box was too narrow for my wide feet and was just too tight overall. Perhaps, if Keen offer the Targhee III on a half size bigger it would be perfect for me. Cause the grip on this shoe is good. The Keen Brixen on the on the other hand had this grip on my ankles that did not feel right at first. But of course like any shoe, one has to wear it the whole day to make a decision. After a while I got use to the ankle grip of the shoe. Over all, this shoe is wider than the Targhee III and it feels like your wearing Crocs but more protection. Although the Targhee III has more grip on wet surfaces, I think you have to wear the Brixen for a day so that the rubber has time to kind a heat up for good grip. Personally, I work as a Dialysis Nurse in a hospital and I’m always on my feet dragging large dialysis equipment and getting my shoe wet. So getting the sole of the shoe hot is never a problem for me. Additionally, my feet are not sore from working 18 plus hours in the hospital I work in. My two cents for two slip on shoes Keen offers is that if your feet is not so wide and you want the fit to be snug then go for the Targhee III. But if your feet are overtly wide get the Brixen. I guess, everybody’s anatomy is just different. The Keen Brixen just works best for people like myself. As far as the durability, let’s see in 6 months to a year. Hope it does not give too soon especially I use this shoe everyday to work and during my off days. Over all I’m pleased with Brixen but I wish that Keen had offered this shoe with orthotic insoles not the insulated heat thing that was included in the shoe. But I would definitly buy this shoe again. Just need to buy an insole for it.
