The dealer charged me $420 to replace this actuator after about 50,000 miles. At 115,000 km it went out again, the expedition now has about 211,000 km. I've heard this thing tick, tick, tick for about 100,000 miles. I would have done it sooner if I knew how easy it is to change. A couple of torx sockets, plastic removal and bam! There is no longer a tick. The shaft has 1 rounded corner so you can mount it any other way than the right one and an electrical connector that can only be plugged in one way. You can go to "Youtube" and there are usually videos on how to do this for your car. I also did this to clean the throttle body and replace the spark plugs on the 2006 Messenger. Saved me a lot of money.
