I will be using this on my new foldable van when it's raining or just to keep things clean and safe when travelling. It was the tallest I could find and is technically a few inches wider than the carrier base, but it actually helps. I'm going to make cardboard (corrugated if possible) to make it look more like a box and also make it easier to work with (instead of letting it dangle limp when loading/unloading/zipping/unwrapping etc. d.). ). This photo shows the carrier without the bag, I'll take a good photo and post later when I get my bag stiffer. It looks really good, is made of very thick vinyl, folds easily and fits in a 12" x 14" x 4" bag. That's an amazing achievement! However, once I've finished the interior walls, I'll have to remove them. More than likely the bag and hitch holder will be left together and I just take everything out of the hitch and put it in the garage or shed (even outside) when not in use. I haven't noticed any mileage loss yet. My 1st 1000 miles I got 32 mpg, with the hitch 31 mpg, add roof rails 30 mpg. I probably won't lose anything because the bag is in the back of the car where the air gets washed out anyway. Not only a roof rail, but also a roof rack or roof bag will hurt your fuel economy a lot more.
