Review on TP-Link TL-WDN4200 N900 Wireless Dual Band USB Adapter by Jeff Salvino

Bad with Wi-Fi 5 GHz

Bad. Windows 8.1 doesn't have 5GHz drivers, so you'll need to install them from a CD. Once done, it will be recognized and connected. Unfortunately, after a few weeks of using this adapter, it started running incredibly slow. Speed tests on other 5GHz devices in the house connected to our router showed everything was fine. It was this adapter. Switching back to 2GHz fixed the issue and the speed test results were as expected. Then I found that I couldn't reconnect to the 5GHz WiFi hotspot. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers but to no avail. The connection sometimes doesn't work at all and when it does, it's very slow. If you're looking for a 2GHz adapter, this is a great option, but it fails miserably for 5GHz connections. Return to Raven.
