Added 2 batteries clipped around spark plug wire (start engine) and read my timestamps. Ready. It's simple and useful: find a way to reduce the ambient light in the area to be tested, find the best distance/location from the reading marks where the light lens is focused/works best. Since you're using a 3V battery powered flash, just adjust the reading range and everything works fine. Good point: the design is obviously well thought out; it's nice that you don't have to connect someone else's thing to 110V; a small manual/manual page is modest but sufficient; Made in the USA. It could be better: the plastic body doesn't seem to be the most durable, just be careful in the workshop. Protected and put back in the box when not in use. Overall very satisfied after the first successful use on a motorcycle engine. For any weekend hobby mechanic I would recommend this product.
