Runs but leaks around pump shaft

I bought this item to winterize my boat for the first time. This pump has a lot to offer. The pump housing is screwed onto the lubricant bottle. The pump is connected to a clear vinyl hose and on the other end of the hose is a yellow fitting that screws into the DRAIN PLUG hole on the lower unit. It would be nice if the yellow fitting could rotate as this makes it easier to screw the drain hole in and out. In any case, the entire pump (and attached bottle) should rotate as you screw it into the bottom block. It's no big deal, although it does allow you to quickly remove the entire assembly so the drain plug can be replaced, a bit of a balancing act. You'll understand what I mean when you first use the pump and that's not a problem. I have seen other more expensive pumps that have this feature. The pump did a great job pumping two liters of 90w gear lube into the bottom unit of my boat. But before I had drunk half of the first liter bottle, the pump around the pump shaft began to leak. There weren't many leaks and there didn't seem to be any air in the oil being pumped, so I wasn't too worried about that. However, it makes using the pump messier than it should be and definitely makes me wonder how many times I can use this pump before it's time to buy a new one. So one star is lost because of a leaking pump and one star is lost because the bottom block fitting is not turning. But all in all a solid pump for very little money that does what it needs to do. at least a few times.
