Review on Squares Clamping Aluminium Woodworking Carpenter by Garrett Craven

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor quality product, premium price.

I was hoping this square would be perfect for the price. Something is wrong. Not much, less than 1/64 inch, but not perfect. Also, the paint looks cheap. There were already two chips in it when I took it out of the box. On the plus side it has a nice notch to hold it when checking the edge of the board. I also like that it's imperial on one side and metric on the other. I had to spend a few more dollars and buy myself a nice square woodpecker. I already have some cheap squares that are a bit out of order. Being a little crazy might seem like a big problem, but it can cause big problems. For example, if you use it to check the face of planks that you join together to form a table, each joint will be offset by the amount of the face deviation. If you put 6 boards together to make a table and your angle is off 1/64th with each cut, that's almost 1/8 inch over the table. This will greatly deform the table. So if accuracy is important to you, this isn't your square. If you just want the most accurate red square this is still not the square for you as you can get a Milwaukee in any house. Depot for less than a third of the price and the paint won't peel off Milwaukee. Not sure who this square is for at this price point. This is a low quality product at a premium price.
