Review on πŸ”‹ Fiamm 74100 El Grande Battery by Juzer Rashid

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easily replace your weak Sprinter horn with El Grande!

The El Grande twin horns were fairly easy to convert to my 2015 Mercedes 4x4 Sprinter Van ("The Beast"). The standard faint horn is located behind the front grille, which you must remove to access the area. One of the two replacement horns fits in the same spot, and I installed the other lower behind the bumper so the horn doesn't collect water and get in the way of the grille or transmission cooling system. (See photos.) I read in another review that sirens draw only 8 amps, so you can plug them directly into existing siren wiring without having to use the relay that comes with it. I was able to change the existing port (default beep). also FIAMM with the same connecting handles) and a new housing for connecting the horn to a Dremmel tool. I connected two short wires to the hot and ground points on the horn and back to the other horn. (In retrospect, it would have been easier to just cut off the stock connector and make two splitters into two horns.) The El Grande horns are a big improvement over the stock horn. I would say the output (sound and volume) is similar to my F-150 pickup. Bottom line, you don't have to spend more money on horns unless you want something really loud.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Mostly fine, but...
