I use this USB 3.0 switch to share multiple devices between my Windows desktop and my Surface Book 2 laptop. This model powers devices with a micro USB power adapter (not included) that prevents temporary power loss for hard drives and other more sensitive electronics during a switchover. It works well with a 1TB Samsung T5 SSD, a Drobo C USB 3.1 external hard drive, a SanDisk USB drive, and a Logitech mouse and keyboard. I also easily access the Switch through the Microsoft Surface Dock. I have attached an ATTO test for the transfer speed of a Samsung T5 SSD when connected directly to a Surface Book 2 and via a UGREEN switch and via a UGREEN switch without an external power supply. These results show a maximum sustained write speed drop of about 35MB/s when going through the switch at the very high end of USB 3.0 maximum speeds. There is no difference when using the slower Drobo HDD array, which achieves around 190 MB/s R/W both via a switch and directly connected to a PC. While this drop in performance is somewhat annoying, the convenience offered by the switch mostly makes up for the slight drop in performance. personal computer It would also be nice if it included a USB power adapter instead of my own. UPDATE 11/14/18: No data corruption issues yet. Drobo has never had a problem switching between computers multiple times a day.
