The weather hasn't been great here since I received the lens but wanted to post my first thoughts. The lens is lightweight and equivalent to f/2.8s from the Tamron E. series mount. Rings and controls are taut and feel well-made. The f/2.8 aperture is about 32mm long. At 28mm, the camera has an insane minimum focus distance. I was able to get to within 3.5 inches (yes, INCHES) of the subject, focus and take the picture. See the attached photo of a mouse taken at f/2.8 at 3.5". I don't see any Tamron ads, but this lens has excellent macro capabilities. Update July 28th: I've started noticing some autofocus issues at 100-135mm. Lots of hunting. I tried it on my A6500 and my A7III and got the same result. It is correct when f/5.6 is switched. Really strange, have issued a refund and hope it's just the copy I received.
