I've been using this for years. 8 years ago I sealed the seams of my aluminum insulating roof. I took a 4 inch roll, cut it in half and used two inches for this purpose. Recently and ONLY because an area I hadn't sealed in the past started leaking. I sealed the ones that were 4" wide. The original 2" wides I installed 8 years ago were still intact (you really can't take them off once they touch the surface to be sealed) and I was really amazed that the ONLY thing I noticed was a couple of areas were separated from the roof BUT that was because I wasn't aware that this stuff wasn't sticking to the existing silicone gasket and those are the areas that didn't. I decided to redo all the stitching so I used a 4" width and went all the way through the existing 2" making sure the edges on each side extend beyond the existing 1". WOW it looked beautiful. and fully sealed, and going over the silicone was a gimmick. I love this stuff and it's worth the price. I used white just because my aluminum porch roof is white. Just note that the area you apply this to should be clean and dry. If you don't do this, the recycle bin may cause an infringement.
