Used to extract from the tumble dryer. If the tumble dryer's metal exhaust pipe is too short, or if the metal exhaust pipe on the wall is too short, it can also be very difficult to wrap/tighten the exhaust hose around the metal exhaust pipe. "Wings" interfere. I chose this metal clamp because I hate opening and installing the usually very springy "spring" clamp on metal exhaust pipes. I ended up replacing a BEAM SCREW CLAMP with a similar clamp that requires a socket wrench or screwdriver to tighten. I used a SCREW CLAMP on a longer metal exhaust pipe (wall) but put another SCREW CLAMP in my "Save it for a rainy day" drawer. Incidentally, my appliance repair technician recommended wrapping the exhaust hose reel in aluminum and NOT plastic or aluminum-coated plastic, which allows heat to escape from the tumble dryer and therefore takes the dryer longer to dry clothes. . He also recommended "airing outside" to keep pests out of your dryer. UPDATE: The day after I wrote this review, I found out that non-aluminum exhaust coils can also cause fires. You need a metal exhaust pipe or an aluminum exhaust coil.
