It works but there is a trick

update after over 5 months - i changed to 5 stars because after 10-12 uses it keeps very well (like new). My main concern is that it will smell over time, but so far so good. Plus, it always works if you do it right. Read below. I saw the pictures and measurements but was still surprised at how tall and big this plastic thing is next to my toilet - that's a big minus. However, the thing works. So. Do you need to look cool/cool or do you need to unclog the toilet with little effort? Also, ppl said it didn't work. Yes, I thought so too when I checked it in a clean, tidy restroom on arrival; nothing has happened. no suction; If the other reviewers did, they are wrong. Two days later I was able to try it out when my toilet bowl got clogged - what can I say. I wondered if I even wanted to use this thing, but okay, I don't have a choice. So I tried and nothing worked. Then I remembered that I had to follow the instructions. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS! I placed it over the hole in the toilet and pushed on it until the accordion part almost collapsed, then twisted the handle a quarter turn or so to the left and then all the way to the right - this created suction. It sank with a relatively small squirt. I've used it many times since then and it works every time - it never takes more than a try or two of 3-4 quick dips to completely clear the blockage. You don't have to be particularly strong to use this, so most people can do it with less energy than a plunger. I've never needed more than 20-30 seconds of effort and another 1-2 minutes to clean/sanitize. I believe you can get rid of even a stubborn blockage in less than 2 minutes. You can take it apart for cleaning and it is wide enough that you can easily clean everything with soapy water or disinfectant in the sink or in the shower. You can also be lazy and just dunk it in clean toilet water with some disinfectant - depends on how dirty you get it, but it's too bulky to stash under the sink. If you want to do this, you need to thoroughly clean and disinfect it. I was worried that the plastic would hold in odors, but that hasn't happened so far. I keep mine in a little stand by the toilet because I use it at least twice a month, sometimes even twice a week. Yay fiber!
