Review on OXO Brew Compact Cold Brew Coffee Maker: Optimal Solution for Delicious Cold Brew Refreshment by Katie Chisholm

Good but prone to human error

I've used this a few times and it's a good product but with flaws. It's very easy to use, just add coarse coffee grounds (I use half the amount recommended in the instructions) and add 24 ounces of water. I leave it in the fridge for 15-24 hours depending on how strong you want the concentrate to be. The taste is good and mild, but depends on the coffee grounds used. In addition, it is very compact, which is good that it does not take up much space and is not high. To disadvantages. Although it is very easy to drip, the dispensing mechanism is at the bottom without a cap to avoid mistakes. I had a period where the seal moved and I didn't notice and licked it. Luckily, I usually put it in a large bowl, just in case. Putting out 24 ounces of coffee in the fridge would be terrible. For those who have had a leak, make sure the gasket is at the bottom of the tank groove (picture from the manual). In addition, even when the seal is in place, small drops seep through the piston here and there, which requires regular cleaning. Even though it's minimal, it can still mess up a countertop or make a mess if it drips onto something. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go for a cold brew machine that doesn't have a lot of moving parts underneath (or none at all). Although small, if it fails, it's a terrible mess that will ruin your day.

Pros
  • Compact size takes up less countertop and fridge space
Cons
  • Almost never
