We have typical Formica worktops in the kitchen on which I didn't want to knead bread dough. So when I was looking for something for my kitchen table, I didn't like the different planks or stoneware that you can buy in the store. They were all too small and too expensive. This product is perfect. It's large, with plenty of room for a big pile of dough and flour without spilling it all over the countertop. It's rubbery like silicone and when folded it just unfolds on its own - laying perfectly flat on the surface and nothing is needed to hold it up. He likes to lay flat and be turned, which is great. It also grips the countertop and stays in place while you pound and knead the dough. The dough doesn't stick either. Cleaning was great - all I had to do was wipe it down with a soapy sponge and warm water and let it dry. When you're done, all you have to do is roll it up again. I wrapped a pair of rubber bands around each end to keep it from unraveling. I haven't used it for baking, so I can't comment on that. For the price - you can't beat this product! You can stop looking now. Buy one of these...you won't be disappointed!
