Review on πŸ”§ Efficient Subaru Ball Joint Puller: Astro Pneumatic Tool 78620 by Prince Fratto

Get ready to worry less

I've tried ALL the tricks in the book except using an acetylene torch to remove the front lower ball joints from my 2015 STi. I was about to call and send him to the store when I came across this great tool. Turned a headache into a triumph! 2 notes I need to share with everyone reading this. 1.) Do what it says and LUB THE THREAD After reading the many reviews of how they broke it, I have to wonder if they skipped this step. The lubricant reduces stress on the threads and makes removal easier. 2.) DO NOT use a percussion gun. Honestly, you'd better not use it. A nice long rod or tube at the end of the ratchet will do. If, after freeing him, you try to pull him out all the way with a blunt weapon, hit yourself. Knowing how strong the breakaway torque of some air pistols can be, it would be wise not to use such a tool alone with this one. If you have a hairpin switch, do yourself a favor and stick with the broken rod. This is how you can assess your feelings. If it's stubborn, you can add a little more penetrant or heat to the mix instead of pounding on it with a gun and breaking the tool. Best $30 I've spent on a tool in a long time. I would spend 4 times more with a MINIMUM to work elsewhere. This is a must have for anyone dealing with Subaru ball joints in my opinion.
