Thanks, Astro Pneumatic

The last time I had to remove a ball joint from a Subaru, I only had a tuning fork ball joint cage. It didn't go well. I don't have many tools at my immediate disposal, so it took me a day and a half to go through all the stages of grief before finally pulling this stupid thing out. It was a complete nightmare and seriously, it made me very angry. I wasted a lot of precious time trying to remove a part. Then it got even worse. Get ready to worry less

I've tried ALL the tricks in the book except using an acetylene torch to remove the front lower ball joints from my 2015 STi. I was about to call and send him to the store when I came across this great tool. Turned a headache into a triumph! 2 notes I need to share with everyone reading this. 1.) Do what it says and LUB THE THREAD After reading the many reviews of how they broke it, I have to wonder if they skipped this step. The lubricant reduces stress on the threads and makes removal easier.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Minor fixability

Extremely useful tool

I have a 2001 Subaru Legacy GT and have decided to replace the lower ball joints. This tool made it much easier to remove the old ball joints (using a fork to pickle the ball joints). The only thing to note is when you jack up the car you have to jack the car up pretty high to get both the tool and the stun gun (Milwaukee Snubnose Fuel in my case) or it won't do the trick. Place. Unfortunately I have a pretty low jack and couldn't get it as high as I wanted, but I still managed to get it…
