Worked well for a few years but now it doesn't lock

Since buying it in 2018 I appreciate the security for storing important documents. However, for the past few weeks it has been very difficult to open and has not closed since. For example, you can close it so that it doesn't open, but neither the code nor the key close it. I enter the wrong code and get a red light but it still opens. Dear useless box. Very angry about that. I don't have money to buy another one. There's no way this would be acceptable for an item that just lies untouched most of the time.
