Review on Voigtlander 17.5mm f0.95 Nokton Lens for Micro Four Thirds: Ultimate Low Light Performance by Robert Cole

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My First Impressions: Absolutely stunning in so many ways

These are just first impressions since I received the lens today but the overall feel of the lens is amazing. The low light capabilities have to be experienced to be believed. The lens construction is reminiscent of Leica and Zeiss planar lenses at a time when heavy all-metal construction was the rule rather than the exception and mechanically smooth operation could be expected from high-quality lenses. The smooth operation makes focusing very easy (and a real pleasure) for anyone who started shooting before the autofocus era began. They produce great results, I have yet to get used to all the polycarbonate and the mechanical play of some of these zoom lenses when fully extended. I can't wait to test this exciting and unique lens elsewhere. Such a lens is definitely one of those additions to the micro 4/3 lens line that, despite some obvious - and known - flaws, makes it exciting to opt for the 4/3 standard. In this regard, the fact that it's possible to shoot in low light without raising the ISO to "noisy" levels (noise at high ISOs is by far one of the worst downsides of 4/3 sensors), one of the most important arguments for itself. for this lens.

I shoot almost exclusively at f0.95, it's awesome.
