I needed one of the best binoculars for a variety of purposes especially bird watching. I had several different binoculars, all good brands, but they were all old. Tools are that they don't age and 10 years later still work just as well as when they were first bought. But technology is improving and I decided to replenish my collection. I found Maven based on reviews, I had never heard of it before, but I bought 9x45 and was very surprised by its clarity, detail and lack of distortion. These were the best binoculars I've ever had. I kept them for almost a month and decided I would try it at the top. I bought Swarovski 10x42 NL Pure and returned Maven. I have to say yes Swaros is better but they cost three times more. The price and difference is definitely not in that range. The biggest negative aspect of the Maven was its weight and being an old man there was some shaking and it was difficult for me to keep the binoculars in a stable position. Swaros are slightly lighter, although they have 10x magnification instead of 9x. the jerking is almost gone. This is due to a small smart accessory called FRP (Forehead Rest) which is only available in the latest versions of Swaros. Basically, it adds a third prop for you to explore. My Network: I definitely recommend Maven, but if so, then feel free to spend the money. I should add that I bought both binoculars from Revain and had no problem returning Maven.
