Review on πŸ“· 7artisans 35mm f0.95 Lens: Perfectly Compact for Fuji X-T Series & X-E Series Mirrorless Cameras by Jodi Tisdale

Great lens for the price, very interesting and surprisingly sharp

For a $250 lens ($200 less than the Mitakon competitor, which from my research appears almost identical), this is phenomenal. The build quality is extremely high and the lens on my Fuji X-T4 is very sharp. The most interesting lens to photograph, the depth of field is just amazing. Definitely turn on the zebras and focus peaking to make sure you're focusing properly, as with such a flat band at f0.95 it's very easy to get a little off track. Technically, the lens is more similar to the T1.0 in my opinion, but it's certainly fast enough. The only criticism is that the cap is very tight on the felt (nice finish) but it doesn't work with a UV filter or anything above it which is a bit of a shame. It just slips off. Also doesn't come with a lens hood and the lens flare looks a bit straight into the sun, but you can buy a lot of third-party 52mm lens hoods with the money you saved on the Mitacon. The aperture wheel should probably also be clicked. or at least have more resistance, it is very easy to accidentally misadjust while shooting. But if you have to change the aperture in the middle of the image for video, it all works mechanically and smoothly (unlike the viltrox 23mm 1.4, for example, which also works without a click, but does not translate directly and can still be adjusted at stops). Vignetting and chromatic aberration are present but can be removed in post-processing. Sharpness is phenomenal, even wide open, zooming up to 200% even with the X-T4's 6MP camera still looks solid. The corners aren't as sharp, but if you're shooting wide open most of the time, you don't want the photo to be completely sharp, as depth of field is the primary goal. All in all a very comfortable lens to use, not as good image quality as my 16-80 F4, but this lens costs $800 and isn't nearly as fast or fun. This thing is so small and easy to film most of the time, except for handheld video where 16-80 stabilization is crucial.
